Brandon Music

Background

Brandon Music is the principal trading name of Diversions, LLC, a classical music record company owned by Stephen and Edna Sutton which was established in the summer of 2008.

Stephen and Edna SuttonThe core of the business stems from Stephen's English business, Divine Art Record Company, an independent classical music recording company which was established in 1992. The two companies now work in parallel, with Brandon Music serving the musicians in the United States and Canada, and Divine Art looking after the rest of the world from their base in the United Kingdom.

Edna and Stephen have been visiting Vermont since 1996, having had a small ski-house in Rochester, and regularly visited Brandon and the Lake Dunmore area. Their love of Vermont grew and they often thought of living and working in Vermont. In 2005, the opportunity presented itself to acquire the former gallery and showrooms of renowned folk artist Warren Kimble, in Brandon, Vermont. Several years of planning and hard work paid off and by the summer of 2008, operations and the United States branch of the Divine Art Recordings Group were underway! The first stage was to open the administration office for Vermont's new classical music outlet and set up a small classical music CD store. The employees hired previously worked at the Warren Kimble Gallery, offering unparalleled expertise in Vermont's cultural community. Throughout 2008 and into 2009, Brandon Music diversified to become Vermont's classical music haven.

Stephen with Brandon Music SignAs Stephen and Edna gradually build upon their Vermont music dream, Brandon Music continues to develop with plans to bring classical music performances and events to the Harmony English Tea Room, grow their repertoire of American classical music artists, and further develop their Vermont art gallery and vintage music collector's corner. Most of all, as Vermont's classical music haven, Brandon Music, is enjoying its emergence into Vermont's rich artistic, musical, and cultural community and network.
